Liposuction

Liposuction removes localized fat deposits through small incisions using a thin cannula, most often from the abdomen, flanks, thighs, or arms. Depending on extent it is done under local or general anesthesia; swelling and compression garments are part of the weeks that follow, and the contour settles over months.

It is typically considered by people near a stable weight with specific areas that resist diet and exercise. It is a shaping procedure, not a weight-loss method, and skin quality matters: where skin has lost elasticity, removing volume beneath it can leave looseness that liposuction alone does not fix.
