Built on the old racetrack — the surrounding streets still follow its oval — Parque México is dense, green, and theatrical: pergolas and fountains from the 1920s, a small open-air theater, ducks with strong opinions, and the ambient spectacle of Condesa walking its very good dogs.
It asks nothing and gives a great deal. Bring a coffee, do a lap, sit under the palms, repeat tomorrow.
Getting there
The heart of Condesa — if you are staying in Condesa or Roma Norte, you walk; from Polanco it is a 15-minute rideshare. The oval Avenida México ringing the park is itself the promenade.
If you are recovering
This is the recovery walk the neighborhood pages keep promising: dead flat, fully shaded, benches every fifty meters, cafes on every corner of the perimeter for the reward at the end. A full unhurried lap is about twenty minutes.
