La Mexicana is what Santa Fe was missing: thirty hectares of lakes, lawns, dog parks and running tracks threaded between the towers, with the skyline stacked behind the water at golden hour.

It is a local’s park rather than a sight — which is exactly its value if Santa Fe is your base. Espresso at one end, a slow boardwalk circuit, and the day’s walking is done pleasantly.

Getting there

Five to ten minutes by rideshare from the Santa Fe hotels and hospital campuses — for patients based in Santa Fe this is the park; from the central neighborhoods it is a 45-minute trip not worth making on its own.

If you are recovering

Built recently and it shows, in the good way: smooth level boardwalks, ramps everywhere, plentiful benches, clean bathrooms, and cafes inside the park. For anyone recovering at a Santa Fe hospital, this is the obvious daily-walk prescription filled.

Activity levels and recovery notes are general guidance about logistics, not medical advice. Follow your care team’s instructions.
