Mercado Roma took the traditional market format and gave it to chefs: oysters, tortas, tlayudas, ramen, churros and natural wine, stall against stall across three floors. It is the easiest way to sample widely in one sitting, and the one food stop where a mixed group — the patient, the companion, the picky eater — all leave satisfied.
Come hungry but with a plan: pick two savory stalls and one sweet, claim a table, and trade plates. The rooftop beer garden is there when the occasion allows it.
Getting there
Walkable from anywhere in Roma Norte or Condesa; 15-25 minutes by rideshare from Polanco. The Metrobús on Insurgentes stops two blocks away.
If you are recovering
Everything is under one roof with real tables and real bathrooms — a rare combination of street-food variety and sit-down comfort. Ground-floor stalls cover most cravings without stairs; the upper floors add a beer garden. Easy to keep a visit to 45 minutes.
