The Jumex is the Soumaya’s quiet neighbor and its opposite: a restrained travertine box by David Chipperfield holding one of Latin America’s most serious contemporary collections. Shows rotate — Koons, Orozco, Kusama and Warhol have all filled it — so check what is up during your stay.
It is deliberately small. With the café on the ground floor and the Soumaya across the plaza, the two museums make a complete, unhurried afternoon in Nuevo Polanco.
Getting there
Directly across Plaza Carso from the Museo Soumaya — same 5-10 minute rideshare from central Polanco, one flat plaza between the two.
If you are recovering
Small, calm, and fully served by elevators. Three exhibition floors go by in an easy hour; the plaza between the museums is flat with places to sit. As gentle as museum-going gets.
